OVERVIEW

Founder Phil Redl incorporated Red L Distributors Ltd. on March 1st, 1961. Edmonton’s south side was home to the new company with 75% oilfield related sales. The company added a new store in Edmonton’s northwest and established a subsidiary company, P.R. Flo Hose Products.

Central Hose & Gauge was purchased in 1989, changing its location and name in 1990 to Red L Distributors Ltd.

Red L Distributors Ltd. and it’s subsidiary company, P.R. Flo Hose Products were purchased on December 1st, 1991 by K.M. (Michael) Ludwig.

Red L’s visionary new leader developed a quality assurance program in 1993 resulting in Edmonton’s main branch receiving International Standards Organization (ISO) certification.

Setting demonstrably high sales and growth goals, Michael Ludwig, recipient of the first Turnaround Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 1994, has grown Red L to nine store/warehouse operations, increased gross revenues by 540 % and diversified the once oilpatch dependent company into the forestry, mining, agricultural, transportation, construction, specialty products and petrochemical sectors, adopting a new slogan to reflect it’s diversification, “The Hose People Plus”.
